For polymerization, the resin must be mixed with a catalyst (hardener) and an accelerator.
The resin is delivered "pre-accelerated" therefore, no need to add the accelerator which is, for information, a metal salt such as cobalt octoate or cobalt naphthenate.
The "pre-accelerated" formula we sell is more practical, more precise and avoids mis-dosing.
The accelerator controls the rate of reaction but without the catalyst the accelerator has no effect on the resin.
This is why the latter can be mixed with resin months in advance.
As for the catalyst, the addition takes place at the last minute at the time of application: it is the agent which will cause the polymerization reaction. By heating, the resin will harden.
The catalysts are mainly organic peroxides: benzoyl peroxides, methyl ethyl ketone peroxides or cyclohexanone peroxides.
In order to make the resin harden, add the MEKP catalyst 1 to 3%, or 10 to 30 ml (or 1 to 3 cl) per 1 kg resin depending on the conditions.
Adding too much catalyst greatly reduces working time and beyond a 4% dosage, polymerization problems may arise.
Packaging: 100 g, or 1 kg.
