Bonding Adhesive

Description

Elevate™ Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 is a solvent-based contact adhesive used to bond Elevate PondGard™ EPDM pond liners to wood, metal, masonry and other acceptable substrates.

Application

Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 can be used in the following Elevate systems: GeoGard™, EPDM, PondGard™ EPDM, GeoSmart™ EPDM and PondEasy™ EPDM.

Preliminary Precautions

The surface to be bonded with Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 must be clean, smooth, dry, free of sharp or foreign materials, oils, grease and other contaminants. If necessary, clean the surface to be bonded with a brush or clean cloth.

Remove all moisture and contaminants from the surface before applying the adhesive. Bring the adhesive to room temperature (15°C to 25°C) before use if the product has been exposed to temperatures below 10°C for an extended period. Stir the adhesive well to obtain a uniformly coloured product without deposits before use and during installation.

Installation

Apply Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 simultaneously to both surfaces to be bonded so that the drying time is almost equal. The adhesive can be applied using a solvent-resistant roller.

Apply Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 evenly, avoiding any accumulation on the surfaces to be bonded. Apply Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 evenly to both surfaces to be bonded.

Do not apply Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 to the joint areas of the membranes.

Application temperatures can vary between 5°C and 35°C. At temperatures below 10°C, the adhesive may be too cold and too hot at temperatures above 35°C, which considerably shortens the drying process. Allow to dry completely (drying time depends on atmospheric conditions) before adhering the membrane to the substrate. Check the drying of the adhesive by performing the finger test.

Consumption

Consumption depends on the roughness and porosity of the substrate. It can be up to 2.75 m² per litre (2 sides).

Some uneven and porous surfaces will result in higher consumption, while smoother and/or less porous surfaces will reduce the consumption of adhesive.

Highly porous surfaces such as untreated wood or concrete blocks may require the application of an additional coat of Lining Bonding Adhesive BA-2017 to ensure good adhesion. It is advisable to carry out a test by sticking a small piece of membrane on the support to check its adhesion.
