How does this filter work?

The water passes from the basin to the filter via a bottom bung and a skimmer in 110 mm pipes.

Since the filter is located at the same level as the basin, a pump draws water into this filter to deliver it to the basin (via the biological chambers). This filter only works in gravity mode.

The dirty water coming from the pond is directed into the prefilter which comprises a grid: the latter retains the particles whose size is greater than 300 microns.

Being cleared of this waste, the water is then directed to the biological chambers.

These chambers contain supports, the nitrifying bacteria find there surface to develop and participate in the biological purification.

The first biological room has a moving bed: a bath with mobile biological media.

These supports are moved by an injection of air at the bottom of the chamber. The system is maintenance-free and performs very well thanks to the very large bacterial colonization surface. The second biological chamber of the filter has carpet: it is the perfect complement of the moving bed.

This filter requires maintaining the pre-filter grid in an acceptable state of cleanliness, and regularly purging the chambers to empty the sludge.
