Polypropylene runoff skimmer.

Skimming is a process of removing unwanted substances in the water from the basin. This means removing them from the water and not simply transforming them like a biological filter.

What are these substances?

These include, among others, amino acids, lipids, phenolic compounds, proteins, in short organic carbon molecules.

Proteins and phenols are substances that color water in yellow and degrade the quality of the water in the basin.

The structure of these substances has a carbon-based end which does not like water (hydrophobic) and a different end (hydrophilic or N) attracted by water.

It emerges that these molecules are surfactant: they will therefore be attracted by an interface (*) which allows the hydrophilic part to remain in the water while its hydrophobic opposite touches an air bubble.

The skimmer makes it possible to exploit this peculiarity ... it is the principle of skimming!

(*) Interface: any separation between air and water. Examples, bubbles, surface of a pool, drop of water ... reason why interfaces often carry visible pollution. One understands the utility of a skimmer (surface of basin) ...

After the installation of a new skimmer, the production of waste takes place continuously: generally, a foam production can be observed just a few hours after distribution of food, for example, or when conditions in the basin are Degrade.

The proposed Filtreco model is not intended for use with ozone incorporation, so it is not possible to completely eliminate the yellowish shade of the water.
