Renewed model with ball valve for flow control and new special Biorings for an even better oxygen mixture.

The protein skimmer is a combination of a biological, mechanical and chemical filter and thanks to a ball valve on this new model it is much easier to regulate the water level.

Regarding the air supply, the device is fitted with a 4 mm air connection and a flowmeter.

An air pump, not supplied, must constantly deliver 0.5 liter / m (30 l / h) of air into the filter. This pressure ensures that the foam is forced out of the filter through the outlet tube.

Operation

The skimmer works as follows: the surface of an air bubble attracts substances dissolved in the water. Due to the attraction of air bubbles, chemicals, dirt particles, dyes and algae are concentrated.

By means of an air pump, the air is mixed with the water and by forcing this mixture through the filter material (biorings) to a lower outlet, a very long contact time between the water and the air is created.

This continually changes the surface tension of the water and creates a dense foam. This foam is passed through a perforated cone which separates the purified water and removes the foam.

Substances dissolved in water, such as phosphates, ammonia, humic acids, dyes, proteins and a number of heavy metals, are filtered and removed by the foam.
