Fish produce ammonia in a continuous manner, which is released, inter alia, during the intake of oxygen via the gills.
In a biological filter, bacteria transform ammonia into nitrates via nitrites, a process that falls under two types of bacteria.
The first group converts ammonia into nitrites: the second group converts nitrites into nitrates.
Since these two processes take place with oxygen, it is important that the water in the filter is rich in oxygen for optimum filter efficiency.
Bactoplus Filter Start contains bacteria of both groups, and in addition in very large quantities.
During production, the products are supplemented by more than 800 million bacteria per ml.
Use these products when starting the filter, after maintenance and if there is a problem with the water quality.
Dosage
Starting the filter or in case of high ammonia or nitrite values: 50 ml per 1000 liters of water.
After cleaning the filter or replacing the water: 25 ml per 1000 liters of water.
Maintenance dose: 25 ml per 1000 liters of water once a month.
The stopper contains about 15 ml.
